Vi Cottrelle’s Trade Aid Lecture 30 July
Trade Aid founder, Vi Cottrell, delivered a public lecture as part of the University of Otago School of Business Visiting Executive Programme on Friday 30 July 2010. An audio recording of the 54-minute talk can be played and downloaded here. The slides that she showed can be seen and downloaded from here. If you play both files together it is almost like being there. She was introduced by Professor George Benwell, the Dean of the School of Business and the PVC of the Division of Commerce.
Design Studies has had an ongoing relationship with the Trade Aid shop in Dunedin and with the Fair Trade movement generally, through our courses, students projects, and related efforts. Otago students have shown their interest in the movement, and two students created a blog about Fair Trade in Dunedin last year. The Department of Design Studies became a Fair Trade Workplace in October 2009. Dunedin became the first Fair Trade city in New Zealand (actually, we tied with Wellington) in December 2009. The campaign to make the University of Otago a Fair Trade University continues. For more information, visit the website of the Fair Trade Association of Australia and New Zealand.
If you want to join in the buzz of fair trade, Auckland is converting soon. For the time being, stay up to date by watching the Fair Trade NZ’s facebook page (http://ht.ly/2iF8U).
